We ignore the fact or many times we fail to consider skin as a organ. Like lungs and kidneys our skin is vital to us for our survival. As we are all busy and caught up reading this post, our skin is constantly interacting with our surroundings. From the basic function of protection to the advanced ones like the sensation of touch, this all is a part of our skin's daily activities. Our skin keeps a check on our surrounding temperature and accordingly helps in making our body adapt to the environment. For example if its too hot the skin produces sweat to cool down the body and save it from the heating up. If its too cold the skin attempts to hold back the body's heat through a complex mechanism. Without the skin we wouldnt be able to even survive for an hour.
